The technology is only on the rise in the large part due to the fact that so many mobile users have become comfortable using tools such as fingerprint identification for access as its simple and unique to each person.
Forecasts show that there’s a rising demand for smartphones, tablets and wearable mobile devices to add in biometrics and this will drive a global market of 3 billion users with nearly 4.8 billion biometric devices by 2020.
“Acuity believes that within just three years, biometrics will become a standard feature on smartphones as well as other mobile devices”, Acuity says.
Security professionals see many positives and a lot of negatives with biometrics technology.
